Second public review: ADA Specification No. 85: Part 1 Disposable Prophy Angles The following section was deleted from the specification that underwent ANSI Public Review in August 2003: 4.2 Microbial Limits Disposable angles shall be free from designated microbial species. Test per the United States Pharmacopoeia 25 (USP25), Chapter 61, or current USP, for the following: E coli, Salmonella species, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus. Scope of first public review: This specification covers disposable prophy angles suitable for a dental hygienist or a dentist to use in conjunction with a doriot style handpiece during the final stages of a dental cleaning, also known as a polish.
